FAA Radar Boron
The paved road ends in one mile at the gated access to restricted federal property. There was a minimum security federal prison that operated for about 20 years before it was closed around the year 2000. The prison property has been cleared of all buildings and most structures due to hazards and vandalism including fires. It is completely closed to the public.
The paved road has an historical name of Locust Road and a San Bernardino County designated name of Seneca Road. Both sides of the paved road west from Hwy 395 to the gate are private property parcels of approximately 2 acres each in a 100+ parcel subdivision. The BLM land is found to the South of the private parcels and the East of Hwy 395. It is also on the other side of the restricted US Federal Prison and FAA parcels but cannot be accessed directly from the paved road. The San Bernardino County Sheriff is tasked with monitoring for illegal access to restricted property by trespassers and is authorized to use electronic monitoring.
